I love nature, its myriad colors, moods and diversity. Being born in a traditional Mithila family, I opened my eyes to see
this abundance of nature all around that got further accentuated by Madhubani art that I inherited as a legacy. I naturally and unconsciously picked it up at a very early age. My avidity to learn more about this enigmatic art continued to grow by the time I reached college and university levels. But it was only after marriage and when I moved to Singapore in 2007, I began to seriously pursue my thought of taking my gift to the whole world in a more professional and structured way.

I draw my inspiration largely from the nature and sweet nothings that form the daily humdrum in the life of my fellow
womenfolk who go through everyday grind like me. I notice simple things like my kids playing or how they interact with
the world, a gorgeous sunset, a falling leaf, serenity of Buddha etc. Any of these elements can trigger my mood to pick up my pen and paint and start to draw.

The fine lines of my works have been pulled from the deep and long tradition of the Mithila / Madhubani art form and then married to modern metaphors under the delicate ministering. Madhubani was essentially a ritual ‘Community Art’ practiced by womenfolk of Mithila region. Over the years, though, it has broken bounds, adopted new manifestations and expanded its constituency.

It has always been a passion for me to work with fine lines that are very similar to the tradition of miniature paintings.
Working with lines to the minute details and trying to give expressions to the characters in these paintings, and changing this traditional painting from very flat to a three dimensional and perspective effect has been like a great journey. As an artist with a traditional background, it was very difficult and also very interesting to break away from the traditional to modern figures and subjects while also trying to work on the traditional lines so as to maintain and preserve the familiarity with its rich tradition and legacy.

ABOUT MADHUBANI ART:
Madhubani a.k.a. Mithila art is an ancient mystical art form that has its rich origins from Ramayana period. Originated in  the Mithila region which is located between the Himalayan foothills and the Ganges plains of India & Nepal, this unique art commands immense global respect and cultural significance due to many myths and folklore attached to it. This is over 5000 years old ancient Indian Art. Madhubani’s unique features are its uni-dimensional depictions, intricate sketch work and brilliant colour schemes.

Ttitli Iterations Pte Ltd. is Singapore’s leading art firm that promotes products and services related to Madhubani Art.
Its core business consists of selling paintings and thematic products, promoting art exhibitions & shows, organizing
events, art trainings and workshops. Founded by Sweta Jha who is an acclaimed Madhubani Art & Craft specialist with over two decades of association with this mystic and renowned art form, the mission of TTITLI is to take the timeless beauty of Madhubani Art to all over the world.

The brilliance of Sweta’s art work by TITTLI is in her adroit strokes and intricate line work which she magically creates
using brush and paint. A variety of theme-based canvasses that narrate great mythological and social legends are much celebrated in her work.Although Sweta remains loyal to the traditional Madhubani templates, she has innovated with icons and figures in a manner no contemporary painter has. The sheer variety of Sweta’s Madhubani set them apart. Her motifs are traditional as well as modern – from depictions of Goddess Durga and Goddess Kali to charwomen and village
children walking to school. She brings to Madhubani paintings the freshness of her keen eye and her courage to experiment and innovate. She is passionately devoted to this art form for over past two decades.

My works mark a departure not merely of newly and widely imagined themes. I have also brought to this form an entirely new idiom of tone and tenor. Monotones and pastels, for instance, have rarely been infused into the Madhubani art form before. Neither have human figures which, in my eyes, become a fascinating fusion of race and geography. This is in entirely novel line of work from my varied portfolio.
