Two of my great passions in life are Art and travel. For me, art is an outlet or a way of expression.  When I paint, I feel that something meaningful is coming out of me.

I have a special love for lines.  The connections that I see through connecting lines allow me to do things that make a lot of sense.  When it comes to colors, I’m interested in the harmony and contrast in their combination.

I am naturally attracted to it.  By nature, I mean not only the topography, but the visible or invisible attraction and connection with people combined with the scenery. Humans cannot survive without bonding nature and each other.

Nature is the root.

“When the root is strong, the fruit is sweet” -African proverb, in this way, root is an essential element for every living thing that needs preservation to enable sustained life. My art is a commentary on this idea of nature as the root for every human being.

When I deeply observe nature, I am amazed that God has experienced this visible and invisible world and made it beautiful.  Natural shapes and lines, especially on the branches of trees, are my starting points when designing my paintings.

I was born and raised in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.  During my childhood, my father used to take me to Art School in Addis Ababa to study painting.  The artworks I saw during this period changed the course of my life and made me who I am today.  As a child, I never had any ambition other than to be an artist.

After I grew up, I achieved my dream and studied for four years at Addis Ababa University’s Ale School of Art and graduated with a high honors diploma in Mural Art.  After working for a few years, I returned to education to further develop my career and graduated from Addis Ababa University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in painting.

 It was during my time at the university that I really developed the paintings that I have been doing under the title Roots, which I have continued with until now.  These paintings are done in charcoal, pastel and ink on card board. I am very excited about the power and magic of charcoal and pastel drawing.

 In my international experience, I have done exhibitions and work experience in different countries.  I have exhibited my experiences and paintings in France in Paris, USA in New York, Ireland in Dublin, Germany in Leipzig, Tunisia in Monastery, Egypt in Cairo twice, Qatar in Doha, Sudan in Khartoum, and Serbia in Silver Lake, to name a few.  Through these processes I have received trophies, medals, awards and certificates from various institutions.
